Woman Fatally Struck By Vehicle In Columbia

BALTIMORE (WJZ)– Authorities say a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle in Columbia Wednesday night.

The Howard County Police Department says around 7 p.m., they responded to the 6500 block of Dobbin Road, where a woman, identified as Maria Erlinda Licona, 57, was struck by a vehicle.

Officers say Licona was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators say the driver, Sung Jong Kim, 34, remained at the scene.

Early investigating, according police, show that Licona was not in a crosswalk or intersection and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Police say Dobbin Road between McGaw Road and Stanford Boulevard was closed for about two hours.
