Best Memorial Day Events In Baltimore

As a long weekend that kicks the summer off everyone looks forward to Memorial day weekend, even if they don't actually celebrate the holiday itself. Unsurprisingly, then, there are a lot of unique activities in and around Baltimore for you to take advantage of if you want to make the best of your long weekend. Contained in this list, you will find activities which appeal to a wide variety of interests and tastes - including a celebration of Memorial Day, itself.

Come to the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel and catch the Balticon - the largest and longest running science fiction convention on the East Coast. This convention runs for the entire three-day weekend and includes guests and events to appeal to every kind of science fiction and fantasy fan on the planet. The full event runs from May 25th to May 28th. Guests include notables like famous sci fi author Larry Niven, and the capstone of the event will be the awarding of the Robert A. Heinlein award to Neal Stephenson. And, of course, you can find all of the expected booths, book signings and merchandise unique to this event.

Port Discovery is an absolutely astonishing indoor play place and educational museum crafted specifically for children. One of the crowning jewels of the venue is its jungle gym and climbing area - complete with tree house - which stretches up several stories. The whole play place is guarded with safety nets for the protection of the children. The museum includes displays and guided activities and adventures throughout the enormous venue.

On Memorial day, Aquafina will be sponsoring a special $2 Family Fun Night. Come between the hours of 4 to 8pm and enjoy all of the interactive exhibits and displays for a reasonable two dollars per person. In addition to the regular activities, Family Fun Night includes Circle Time with stories and songs for attending youngsters.

In order to pay the honor to the fallen men and women of the armed forces which these heroes deserve, Dulaney Valley Memorial Garden holds an annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Field of Honor in the section labeled The Circle of Immortals.

This event will include speeches, music and a final salute to these soldiers who paid the highest price for the country they loved.

On the Saturday and Sunday prior to Memorial day, the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore will hold its annual Brew at the Zoo event. Come enjoy the sights and sounds of the zoo and then enjoy one of Baltimore's biggest beer festivals of the year.

In addition to unlimited beer sampling of over 80 different brews, the event will also include local vendors, artisans and performers. This means beer, food and music in an event that lasts all day and goes on for two days.

The Spirit of Baltimore is one of the best-known cruise ships that drops anchor in the Inner Harbor and offers enjoyable cruise events all year round. From Friday until Monday of Memorial Day Weekend, the Spirit of Baltimore will be hosting the ultimate cruise, sailing guests for two or three hours each day on the Patapsco River.
