All 4 Teen Suspects Indicted In Death Of Baltimore Co. Ofc. Amy Caprio
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- The four teens arrested in connection with the death of Baltimore County police officer Amy Caprio have been indicted for her death.
Dawnta Harris, Eugene Genius, Derrick Matthews, and Darrell Ward were indicted on 19 charges, including first-degree murder, burglary, and conspiracy to commit burglary.

Legal expert Adam Ruther says in Maryland, the murder charges, in this case, can apply to all four teens.
"If you're involved with other people in the commission of a felony and someone dies while you're committing that felony, then you can be culpable for murder just as if you committed a premeditated act," he explains.
Prosecutors also claimed that the group was on a crime spree in the Perry Hall area on the day Officer Caprio was killed while investigating suspicious activity.
The indictment states the group stopped by three homes in the area, broke into two of them and stole items from each of them.
A gun and electronics were allegedly stolen from one home, alcohol and bags of chips from another and a box of dishes from the porch of a third.
Defense attorney Warren Brown represents 16-year-old Harris, who police say ran over Officer Caprio in a stolen Jeep while the other teens ransacked a home.

Brown claims Harris never intended to kill the officer but panicked and tried to get away.
"They are moving with great haste and that's okay with us," Brown said.
He says though unusual to see an indictment this early in the case, it does mean sooner access to evidence -- including the possibility of Officer Caprio's police body camera footage.
"The body camera is going to be important, the autopsy is going to be important, my client's statement is going to be important, DNA associated with the vehicle is going to be important," Brown said.
The Baltimore County State's Attorney Office has not spoken on the charges specifically but instead issued a statement assuring their commitment that all parties receive a fair and just trial.
