At Least 1 Dead After Charter Bus Crash In Baltimore Co.

BALTIMORE CO., Md. (WJZ) -- The Baltimore County Fire Department was on the scene of a fatal crash involving a charter bus Wednesday morning.

Fire crews responded to Brick Store Rd. and Falls Rd. for a crash that involved a charter bus and another vehicle.

Police say one of the nine people injured in the crash has died.

The 19-year-old driver of the Infiniti was pronounced dead following the crash, on the scene. He has been identified as Joel William Drawbaugh, of Havre De Grace.

John Cramer and his wife heard the crash just footsteps away from their front door.

"She said, 'What was that noise?' I said, 'Something on television,' Then I got up and looked out the window. They were unloading the bus," Cramer said.

What Cramer saw at the base of his yard was the immediate aftermath of a devastating collision.

The last of three charter buses, headed to a retreat, had bottomed out and gotten stuck- blocking both lanes of Falls Road.

Moments later, a car slammed into the back side, near the engine.

He said the driver of the car was no talking and had his head down.

"She was pinned in pretty heavily," Cramer said.

The fire department reports there are multiple injuries, and eight people from the bus have been taken to the hospital.

There were 35 others on the charter bus who were not injured in the crash.

The conditions or ages of the 8 bus riders who were hospitalized with minimal injuries are still unknown.

Falls Rd. is closed between Gunpowder Rd. and Beckleysville Rd.
