Loch Raven High School Honors Fallen Officer With Jersey Dedication
BALTIMORE, Md. (WJZ) — It was a special night at a Baltimore high school Wednesday night.
Hundreds honored fallen Baltimore County Police Officer Amy Caprio during halftime at a Loch Raven High School's girls' varsity soccer game, the team that Caprio once played on herself.
Caprio was killed in the line of duty while investigating a call for suspicious activity in a Perry Hall neighborhood in May 2018.

During the last game of the season, the seniors shared the spotlight with the officer.
At 6:30 p.m. during halftime, the school held a jersey dedication ceremony where Caprio's husband and parents will receive a framed, #24 soccer jersey. They also dedicated a plaque in the high school to remember Caprio.
The matchup was also significant because Caprio's husband graduated from the opposing school, Parkville High School, who played Loch Raven on Wednesday night.
The common theme of the night was that Officer Caprio was the friend everyone wanted.
"I'm actually getting married in November and I had sent her the save the date and it kind of all happened, unfortunately. We are actually going to honor her in our wedding in a prayer," said Judith Stewart, a friend of Caprio.
Three service members who attended high school with Caprio attended the commemoration Wednesday.
Caprio graduated from Loch Raven High School in 2006 and wore #24 on the varsity soccer team. She was also in the jazz band and managed the lacrosse team, she became friends with the coach as time went on.
"We actually hung out with Amy two weeks before she had passed, so we are very thankful to have had that time together with her," said Danielle Grzbeien, coach.
Officer Caprio was killed in May as she answered a call for burglary suspects in the Perry Hall area. Prosecutors believe one suspect struck her with a vehicle.
Four teens were indicted on murder charges.

Wednesday's game had her family trying to keep her memory alive.
Another jersey will remain at the high school in Caprio's honor.
"I'm not sure she would love all the attention, but I think she would feel that she made an impact," said Judith Stewart, a friend of Caprio.
Organizers said donations from Wednesday night's game will go to the Fallen Officers Fund in honor of Officer Caprio.
