First Female Baltimore County Police Chief, Melissa Hyatt, Sworn In

BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. (WJZ) -- Baltimore County's new police chief was sworn into her new role Monday.

Melissa Hyatt is the first female chief in Baltimore County history.

She's a 20-year veteran of the Baltimore City Police Department and a graduate of the FBI National Academy.

She succeeds Terrence Sheridan, who held the position since 2017.

With her appointment, all of the county's public safety agencies are now led by women.
