'Another Senseless Loss of Life': 16-Year-Old Killed In Early Morning Shooting In Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ) -- A juvenile was killed in a shooting early Monday morning in Annapolis. Police identified the victim as 16-year-old Elijah Mekhi Wilson.

According to police, the fatal shooting happened in the Harbor House Community around 12:14 a.m.

Police responded to reports of shots fired and found Wilson injured. He was flown to a local trauma center and died from his injuries.

In a statement Monday afternoon, Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley said he was, "disappointed in another senseless loss of life," just days after a gun summit.

Buckley said police have promising leads in the case but is asking the public for their help.

Police do not believe there is a threat to the general public.
