2-Mile Dead Zone Confirmed In Chesapeake Bay

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- The warm weather this summer, along with a lot of rain, is bad news for the Chesapeake Bay.

In June, scientists predicted a dead zone could form this summer, potentially harming marine life.

It turns out, they were right.

The two-mile dead zone is even worse than it's been in past years.

Scientists say the intense heat and freshwater pollution is to blame.
