As well as executive producing the Baltimore Fashion Week, Sharan Nixon is also the radio host of The Sharan Nixon Show and the president and CEO of the Fashion Umbrella Foundation. The Fashion Umbrella Foundation is an organization "established to support the arts while providing an educational focus on business development." Through Baltimore Fashion Week, Nixon "aims to create a vibrant fashion community where designers can thrive by providing a showcase of one-of-a-kind fashions." Here are her tips on what trendsetters can expect to be "in" this fall.
This fall, the key looks for the hair will be the "distressed" look, according to Nixon. Even if you go au naturel with your hair, the distressed look can be achieved with a quick firm movement of your fingers through your hair. You need very little product to create the distressed look for your hair. Seal the deal by sporting "a pair of sporty chic" eyeglasses to complete the look. Nowadays everyone is wearing glasses whether prescription or no, and Nixon sees it as the finishing look for the facial area. Nixon has her sporty chic eyeglasses in different colors.
Another sure to be hit for the fall will be jumpsuits, says Nixon. From Forever21 to Macy's, everyone is getting on board for the fall with the "one-piecer that is sure to make any fashion selection process easy." The one-piecer, or jumpsuit, is perfectly paired with Nixon's favorite items, "accessies," or accessories. Top off the jumpsuit with a cute pair of heels. With a jumpsuit "you are all set for fun on the town -- whether day or night," she says.
Nixon loves the vintage look. From boho chic to an "A" line dress, Nixon loves it all! Vintage will never go out of style and neither will another favorite of Nixon's, sequins. Sequins, an all-year fave for Nixon, will be a hit this fall as well. Be sure to give sequins a chance this fall. "Don't think of sequins as part of the disco era. Think of sequins as part of the now era," advises Nixon. "Quite honestly I think sequins should be the new girl's best friend as well as diamonds."
Those who love to remain young at heart are in luck with this year's return of the backpack. From Walgreens to Laila Rowe you can find the perfect backpacks that can go from the office to the nightclub. Don't sleep on the backpack, it's going to be the next hottest accessory. Remember you heard it here first.
Last but not least is Nixon's favorite footwear...the slingback shoe. According to her, this fall sling backs are "returning with a vengeance." Slingbacks are a fashionable addition to your wardrobe. "None other than Caitlyn Jenner is making one of my favs a comeback," says Nixon. "Now, note these slings backs have more of a kitten heel (no more than two inches tall) so if you are a tall fashion lover like myself, you won't tower over your other fashion friends." She recommends giving the four-inchers a break and trying out the Jenner-approved slingbacks.
