Shark Tagging: Henry Hall Program

Fans of “Shark Week,” you have a chance for close encounters of your own, right here in Maryland. The Henry Hall Program from the National Aquarium in Baltimore offers participants the opportunity to help tag sharks for data research. Sign up early for the summer program, and join Captain Mark Sampson for a day of shark fishing off the coast of Ocean City. The Henry Hall Program also provides dates for sea turtle watching, and offers camping opportunities around the Chesapeake Bay. Broaden your knowledge of marine life and have fun with the free summer programs offered by the National Aquarium.

Are you a fan of the 1970s era of roller derby? At the Du Burns Arena in Baltimore, the Charm City Roller Girls take to the flat track for exciting bouts in roller derby. Represented by participants form the Baltimore/D.C. area, these women balance force and athletic ability in the spirit of competition. For aspiring rollergirls, tryouts are held regularly at Skateland North Point. Come out and support a local sports franchise and cheer on the Charm City Roller Girls.

Looking for a new way to exercise while enjoying the sites around the Harbor? The Canton Kayak Club is a great place to meet local kayakers and to establish networking opportunities. Annual membership provides unlimited use of kayaks and paddles. For new kayakers, courses are offered by KayakTraining.com. Be sure to join “Paddle Pals” as experienced and inexperienced kayakers meet for group kayaking trips on alternate Saturdays or Sundays. The Canton Kayak Club has grown to over 400 members with over 60 kayaks.
