Best Golf Courses In Baltimore

Did you know that August is National Golf Month? Golf originated in Scotland in the 15th century. There are almost 18,000 golf courses in the United States, and about 4.6 million Americans play golf each year. Celebrate the popular and long-running national pastime by breaking out the clubs and hitting the course! Baltimore golfers who are tired of the traffic and working all day have a number of golf courses at their disposal. Close to Baltimore's business and hotel districts are Forest Park, Carroll Park and Clifton Park golf courses. Want to golf on a real college golf course? Founded as a 9-hole golf course, Forest Park now comprises a "combination of two styles and challenges." The original course takes golfers through a challenging wood landscape. Players who play Forest Park can expect "tight fairways, imposing trees and hilly terrain." The course features "small elevated green complexes, tree-lined fairways" and "uneven terrain." Look out for their notoriously difficult par 3 holes! Even the most advanced golfers will find themselves challenged here.

Carroll Park is not far from the downtown Baltimore area. But the 9-hole course offers a close and satisfying chance for golfers to escape the hustle and bustle of meetings, work and the stress of day-to-day life. The general public can play on the course for a fee year-round. The McDaniel College Golf Course features a 2,000-square-foot clubhouse that comprises offices for the men's and women's golf coaching staff, a meeting room for college golf teams and a showroom for golf merchandise for sale.

Known as one of Baltimore's "Classic Five" golf courses, Clifton Park was built in 1915. The first hole is set near the Clifton Mansion and is a "starting point for a panoramic journey through new and old Baltimore." From the Clifton Park Golf Course players can see the skyline of Baltimore, the Clifton Tower, and the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Open seven days a week, visit Severna Park Golf Center  Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Also a family fun center, Severna Park Golf Center also offers batting cages, a mini golf course (get the kids started on their game), a par 3 course and a driving range. The driving range has 44 driving range stations all separated with tee dividers for added safety.
