Best Restaurants In Baltimore Open For Thanksgiving In 2012

Preparing Thanksgiving dinner can be overwhelming. Timing the turkey to finish at the same time as the mashed potatoes can seem like an insurmountable feat with the whole family running around the house. Or maybe you love to cook, but the thought of the pile of dishes in the sink makes you more tired than the tryptophan. This Thanksgiving, let the chefs at some of Baltimore's best restaurants cook for you and leave the dishes — and a nice holiday tip — on the table.

The Rusty Scupper will host a Thanksgiving buffet from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. this year. The extensive menu includes roast turkey, honey-glazed ham, herb-crusted roast beef, sausage and sage stuffing, and gravy. Seafood selections include roasted salmon with crab meat in a dill cream, Edward Island mussels, and a raw bar with oysters and shrimp. Sides are sauerkraut and sausage, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, mac 'n cheese, cranberry-orange relish, green bean amandine, succotash, applesauce and oyster stuffing. Rusty Scupper will offer a variety of salads, and desserts will include bread pudding, pumpkin pie and apple crumb pie. Apple cider and other non-alcoholic beverages are included.

Alizee, located inside the Inn at the Colonnade near Johns Hopkins University, is offering a carving station featuring roasted turkey and herb-crusted roast pork loin with apple chutney. A made-to-order omelet station includes standards such as ham and cheddar cheese. The buffet will offer crab-stuffed salmon, mandarin orange chicken, meatballs marinara, candied yams (with marshmallows), herb stuffing, creamed corn, vegetables, an assortment of salads, and cheese and crackers. Save room for Alizee's assortment of  holiday cakes and pies.

Wit & Wisdom, Michael Mina's tavern overlooking the water in Harbor East, is offering a three-course Thanksgiving feast. For the first course, diners may opt for a salad of cranberries, black olives and pecans; oyster stew with bacon and vermouth cream; a fall vegetable salad with smoked salmon tartare; or a pumpkin soup with bourbon-glazed pork belly. Classic roasted turkey, beef ribeye, crab and scallops, and flounder are the entree courses. Customers may add on green bean casserole, whipped sweet potatoes, mac 'n cheese, or brussel sprouts for $9 each. The dinner will round out with either a spiced squash cake, apple crisp, chocolate pecan tart or a cheese plate.

The Milton Inn, an institution in Baltimore County, will host Thanksgiving dinner that include a first course, entree, and dessert. First course includes a choice of split pea soup, Caesar salad or warm baby spinach salad. Entree options mimic a traditional Thanksgiving dinner: hand-carved white and dark meat turkey accompanied by sauerkraut with sausage, onion and celery stuffing, sweet potato mousse, Jack Tarr mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cranberry relish, and Parker House rolls and cornbread. Dessert options include pumpkin or apple pie, or truffle torte. The Milton Inn asks for no substitutions, coupons, Groupons, Restaurant.com certificates or other discounts.

The Hyatt's Bistro 300 is offering several Thanksgiving options. Two brunch seatings are at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Diners will enjoy a live jazz band while dining on turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, salads and traditional desserts. The 6 p.m. dinner buffet will feature seasonal soups, salads, glazed turkey breast, roasted pork loin, cornbread stuffing, mac 'n cheese, glazed root vegetables and desserts including sweet potato pie and Bistro 300's old-fashioned bread pudding. If the idea of dressing up to go out to brunch or dinner is too much, the restaurant is also offering a full dinner to go for four to six people for $99.
