Best Skiing Spots Near Baltimore

Snowpocalypse and Snowmageddon may have transformed the entire Baltimore area into a ski resort, but when the snow is not around, you need to pack up your skis and travel out to the best skiing resorts in the area. Hit the slopes for adventure and downhill fun.

With 100 inches of annual snowfall and covering 132 acres of ski terrain, Wisp is ideal for cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing and snowmobiling. Experienced skiers and snowboarders can test their skills and abilities at the Wisp Resort Terrain Parks with jumps and obstacles for tricks. Avoid cabin fever and make plans to visit Whitetail Resort during the winter months for skiing fun. Whitetail reaches an elevation of 1,800 feet with 23 trails and two terrain parks. Some courses are open until 10 p.m. for night skiing excitement. Recent renovations and $4 million in improvements to Whitetail have led to new patio furnishings, more snowmaking fan guns and a new beginner trail. Snowboarders will enjoy Whitetail half pipe and terrain courses where they can work on their balance and skills.

With 100 acres of ski slopes, Roundtop Mountain Resort is a wonderful location to escape the long winter months. There are 16 ski runs and 11 lifts that are in superior shape. Modest diversity in the trails makes it easy for skiers of all skill levels. Beginners can also sign up for ski lessons along with season ski packages. Snowboarding and snow tubing is also a specialty of Roundtop which has a smaller vertical drop then the majority of the local ski resorts. Roundtop is located just south of Harrisburg, Pa., next to the scenic Amish Country.
