As the weather starts to change and people begin to shake off the winter blues, art events also become the order of the day (or night). Whether it is performing, literary or visual art, people seek that connection that ties them to culture. They look for activities that not only get them out for the evening, but also reflect their interests and present opportunities for personal growth. The Walters offers weekend art activities for the entire family. Filled with fun, attendees can experience exploration by various modes of transportation. According to the website, teachers will assist family members in creating various artpieces which they can take with them. There is a different theme, or project, each weekend. Registration is not required, hence the "drop-in."

Located in Columbia, right outside of Baltimore, this venue features premier productions with a buffet-style dinner. "Just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down in the most delightful way" is just one of the familiar lines you'll hear in the lineup of hits after hits. "Mary Poppins" is a show the whole family will enjoy.

Located in Baltimore's Federal Hill area, this museum specializes in eclectic art. Patrons and visitors are treated to seeing art in a unique way. Established in 1995, this unusual museum features three floors of exhibits displaying work of mostly self-taught artists. According to the website, "visionary art as defined for the purposes of the American Visionary Art Museum refers to art produced by self-taught individuals, usually without formal training, whose works arise from an innate personal vision that revels foremost in the creative act itself. In short, visionary art begins by listening to the inner voices of the soul, and often may not even be thought of as 'art' by its creator." The museum will celebrate Dr. King's vision with a free fun-filled day of activities to include guided tours, music, workshops and dance. All activities will be free and open to the public.

The James E. Lewis Museum of Art, a hidden treasure in the Baltimore area, is located on the southeastern campus of Morgan State University inside the Carl Murphy Fine Arts building. This museum touts it is where art, history and cultures meet. It features colorful displays of Asian, African, European sculptures, pottery and paintings. In addition, the James E. Lewis Museum of Art features various programs and lectures. The James Edward Lewis Museum of Art has permanent as well as new collections. There are various media such as paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings, lithographs, collages, prints and photographs.
