Best Spring Festivals In Baltimore

This is the time of year when a celebration does a winter-weary body well. In the Baltimore area, there are several spring festivals held during that special season. Here is a brief look at the Baltimore offerings.

This is the 11th year for the festival, held at the beautiful waterfront of Fells Point. Activities will include history, music, dance, arts and crafts, food and libations. This event is free and open to the public.

It includes jewelry, fashion, home furniture, gardening, pottery, sculpture, and glasswork. This is the ideal place for the new and budding artists to tout their creativity and wares. There will be interactive demonstrations as the artists show just how they express themselves. The festival usually features live entertainment.

Large, flowery and unique hats as well as lemon sticks come out for this annual festival. Street closures are in effect from Thursday through Sunday when there will be partying in the streets. There is continuous entertainment, usually on two stages, with vendors, arts and crafts activities and contests all set along the base of Mt. Vernon's Washington Monument. In addition, there is a food court with plenty good eats from kettle corn to crab cakes to pit beef to hot dogs.This event has been celebrated in the Baltimore area since 2000 and the tradition continues. The FlowerMart is funded through the donations of private citizens, corporations and foundations. Baltimore's FlowerMart is a true sign that spring has sprung.

Towsontown Spring Festival

This is the 48th year for the festival which is not only the largest in the state, but also on the east coast. It takes place over a two-day period in the Towson section of Baltimore County. The fun includes almost 500 vendors with live performances on three different stages and a beer garden. This annual festival is sponsored by the Towson Chamber of Commerce.

Whether you say Baltimore or Bawlmer, you are sure to enjoy yourself at the annual Honfest celebration. This event has become a Baltimore tradition, taking place over four blocks. Take a step back into the 1950s as you experience the over-the-top spandex costumes and beehive hairdos as well as the sidewalk vendors and great food. The event takes place in the Hampden area of Baltimore City along 36th Street also known as The Avenue. This festival garners national attention each year. HonFest is a derivative of the word Honey, a Baltimore term of endearment.
