St. Leonard Kicks Off Md. Archaeology Month

ST. LEONARD, Md. (AP) -- The Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum in St. Leonard is opening its 2011 public season with a day devoted to archaeology.

Archaeological groups from across Maryland will join the Discovery Archaeology Day event Saturday with displays, artifacts and hands-on activities. There will be free guided tours of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory as well.

Archaeologists will discuss recent discoveries from the 18th century Smith's St. Leonard plantation site.
