Miller's Island Restaurant Fined For Noise
EDGEMERE, Md. (AP) -- An Edgemere bar owner in an ongoing dispute with neighbors over noise from his waterfront watering hole was fined $4,000 after moving his sound system onto a boat.
A Circuit judge ruled last year that the Dock of the Bay restaurant could not have any kind of live or recorded entertainment. This spring, bar owner Lawrence J. Thanner Jr. set up a sound system on a barge near the restaurant. At a liquor board hearing on Monday, Thanner testified that the music on the barge did not violate the court order.
The board decided otherwise and ruled that the restaurant had violated two liquor board rules. The liquor board's chairman said heavier penalties would follow for further infractions.
