FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Federal contractor Bechtel Corp. says it’s considering moving its offices out of Frederick to another location in the Washington area.

The Frederick News-Post reports that the San Francisco-based company told its 2,000 Frederick workers on Thursday that the leases on its Frederick offices are up for renewal.

A company spokeswoman told the newspaper Bechtel views the event as an opportunity to consider the advantages of Frederick and other locations in the Washington area.

Bechtel moved three divisions to Frederick from San Francisco in 2004.

They have coordinated many international projects, including nuclear reactors and $2.3 billion in construction contracts in Iraq.
