Lanes To Close On GW Parkway For Repair Work

McLEAN, Va. (AP) -- Authorities say some northbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway are closing for landslide repair work.

The National Park Service says that starting Sept. 6, the right lanes of the parkway will be closed between Spout Run Parkway and the first overlook. The lanes will be closed on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Crews will be working to install signage, shift pavement markings and install barriers on the parkway.

During construction, one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

All of the construction work is scheduled to be completed by spring 2012.
