2 Guilty In Md. Truck-Repair Theft Scheme

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Two men face up to 20 years in prison for conspiring to embezzle more than $326,000 from an Ohio trucking firm through a Maryland repair shop.

Clyde Lewis Jr. of Prattsburgh, N.Y., and Christopher Windsor of League City, Texas, pleaded guilty Thursday to mail fraud and tax charges in federal court in Baltimore.

Windsor owned a business that sold trailers to freight hauler Home Run Inc., of Xenia, Ohio. Lewis worked for Home Run and ran the company's repair shop in Lewistown, Md.

The pair acknowledged they conspired to defraud Home Run by submitting false invoices for repairs. The scheme unraveled in 2008 when Home Run discovered the theft.

Besides the potential 20-year term for mail fraud conspiracy, Lewis also faces up to three years for tax violations.
