Boy Killed, 2 Women Injured In Md. House Fire

LEWISDALE, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County fire officials say a 6-year-old boy is dead and two female relatives were critically injured in a house fire in Lewisdale.

Firefighters found the one-story brick home in the 2400-block of Griffen Street engulfed in heavy fire when they arrived around 4 a.m. Sunday. One relative was able to escape the blaze on her own, but firefighters searched the house for the boy and two other women.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says all three were taken to a hospital, where the young boy died. The two women were partially resuscitated and transferred to another hospital for hyperbaric treatment.

One firefighter suffered a minor burn and is expected to be released Sunday.

Damage is estimated at $100,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
