Dulles Toll Road Rates Increase January 1

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Tolls on the Dulles Toll Road in Virginia are increasing on New Year's Day.

The new rates for cars will be $1.50 at the main toll plaza. That's up 25 cents. Car drivers will continue to pay 75 cents at the on/off ramps. Larger vehicles will also pay more.

The new toll rates were approved in 2009. The tolls will help pay for construction of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project and improvements to the Dulles Toll Road.
