Dancers To Perform On Face Of D.C.'s Old Post Office

WASHINGTON (AP) --Aerial dancers are preparing to scale one of Washington's most prominent buildings on Pennsylvania Avenue in a performance for the Kennedy Center's citywide street arts festival.

On Friday evening, dancers from San Francisco-based Project Bandaloop will perform on the face of the Old Post Office Pavilion's 315-foot clock tower. Pennsylvania Avenue will be closed to traffic for the show from 8 to 10 p.m.

The Romanesque revival structure was completed in 1899 to house the U.S. Post Office headquarters and the city's post office. It's the second-tallest structure in the nation's capital, after the Washington Monument.

The building houses the National Endowment for the Arts and other government offices. But Donald Trump plans to make it a luxury hotel.

Organizers recommend visitors bring mats or folding chairs to sit on.
