Orioles Select OF Avery From Norfolk, Option RHP Pomeranz
BALTIMORE (WJZ)-- The Baltimore Orioles selected outfielder Xavier Avery's contract from the Triple-A Norfolk Tides.
Avery, 22, batted .273/.373/.469 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 33 games for the Tides. He will wear uniform No. 13.
The Orioles will reassign infielder Matt Antonelli to make room for Avery on the 40-man roster.
The Orioles also optioned right-handed pitcher Stu Pomeranz to the Tides. He made two scoreless appearances for the Orioles since his contract was selected on May 7.
