Former Md. Teacher Charged With Molesting Student

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- A former Frederick County public school teacher is charged with molesting a student.

The Frederick News-Post reported Tuesday that James Ways, 50, of Westminster was served Monday with a criminal summons charging him with three counts of fourth-degree sex offense.

Ways allegedly engaged in sex with a 17-year-old from May to September of last year.

The Associated Press couldn't reach Ways for comment. His home telephone is disconnected and no defense attorney is listed in court files.

Spokeswoman Marita Loose says Ways was employed by the school system from 1985 until March 5.

She says he was placed on administrative leave in late September after another teacher told school officials he was having sex with a student.

His first court appearance is set for June 19.
