White Marlin Open Underway In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, Md. (AP) -- Ocean City's annual White Marlin tournament is underway.

Tournament officials say 11 boats went out Monday, the first day of the tournament, which runs through Friday.

Organizers say the open is the world's largest billfish tournament and anglers are competing for a projected $2 million in prize money.

In addition to white marlin, competitors are fishing for blue marlin, tuna, dolphin, wahoo and shark.

Boats competing in the open can depart from any inlet between Rudee Inlet, Va., and Barnegat Inlet, N.J. Spectators can watch the weigh-in beginning at 4 p.m. each day at the Harbour Island marina on 14th St. in Ocean City.
