Ex-Postal Worker Pleads Guilty To Mail Theft
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A former postal service employee has pleaded guilty to stealing cash and gift cards from the mail.
Dorothy Jean Gibson, 56, of Windsor Mill entered the plea in U.S. Court in Baltimore on Friday. She faces a maximum of five years in prison at sentencing Jan. 11.
According to a plea agreement, Gibson was a mail processing clerk at the Linthicum incoming mail facility. After receiving complaints from customers about gift cards not being delivered, postal inspectors videotaped Gibson at her machine.
Prosecutors say Gibson was seen opening greeting cards, stealing gift cards and putting the mail in her purse.
