Ex-Pro Boxer, Wife Accused Of Theft From Program

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A former professional boxer and his wife have been indicted on charges that they spent money from the city and private fund intended for their nonprofit youth program.

Keely Thompson and Bianca Thompson of Accokeek were indicted Friday on 31 counts, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud.

Keely Thomas is executive director of Keely's District Boxing and Youth Center, and his wife is the deputy director. According to the indictment, the organization received more than $1.5 million in government and private funding between 2004 and 2010.

The indictment alleges that the Thompsons used much of the money to pay for personal items and services, including more than $100,000 for gambling at an Atlantic City casino, a cruise, vehicle leases and furniture for their home.
