Woman Dies In Carroll County Fire
WESTMINSTER, Md. (WJZ) -– Deputy State Fire Marshals, Maryland State Police and the Westminster Police Department are conducting an investigation into the fatal fire involving a homeless woman.
It happened on the rear entrance dock of the Westminster Rescue Mission at 30 West Main Street in Westminster.
Just before 2 a.m. Tuesday, the Westminster Fire Department was called to the one-alarm fire at the rear of the structure. They located the body and clothing burning.
Although the fire was quickly extinguished, the victim was declared dead.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Damage to the structure is considered to be minimal.
