1 Dead In 4-Car Crash On Philadelphia Road

ROSEDALE, Md. (WJZ)-- One person is dead after a head-on collision involving four cars in Rosedale.

It happened around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The initial investigation indicates the first vehicle was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of the 8100-block of Philadelphia Road.

The second, third and fourth vehicles were traveling in the eastbound lane of eastbound Philadelphia Road in the same block. The second vehicle saw the first vehicle and swerved into the westbound lane to avoid it but side-swiped it in the process. The first vehicle then ran head-on into the third vehicle and the fourth vehicle ran into the rear of the third vehicle.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.  She has been identified as Sandra Lynn Vogel, 49.

The driver of the third vehicle was transported to Bayview Hospital for treatment. That person's current condition is unknown.

The drivers of the second and fourth vehicles were not transported to a medical facility.

The Baltimore County Police Crash Team is actively investigating this incident.
