Loyola Holds Off Canisius 68-64

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Robert Olson scored 18 points and Dylon Cormier added 17 as Loyola (Md.) held off Canisius 68-64 Thursday night to split the season series.

There were eight ties and nine lead changes before the Greyhounds (18-9, 10-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) closed the first half with a 7-1 spurt to lead 37-32 at intermission.

The Golden Griffins (16-10, 9-6), who defeated Loyola 91-79 on Jan. 31, trailed by as many as 10 in the second half and could get no closer than three until Billy Baron's 3-pointer with 48 seconds remaining made it 66-64.

Cormier missed a layup and Baron a 3-pointer, then Anthony Winbush hit two free throws with 5 seconds left. Baron missed another 3-pointer with 2 seconds showing.

Julius Brooks added 13 points on perfect shooting for the Greyhounds.

Jordan Heath had 15 points, Baron 14 and Chris Manhertz added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Canisius.
