Frederick Woman's Death Ruled A Homicide

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says a 61-year-old woman found dead in her Frederick apartment was a homicide victim.

Sgt. Jennifer Bailey said Wednesday that an autopsy conducted by the state medical examiner's office revealed "significant trauma" to Gloria Fitzpatricks' body. But Bailey says those injuries weren't visible to detectives who investigated the death on Monday.

She says there were no signs of a forced entry or a struggle inside the apartment on Rooks Court.

Bailey says the body was found by a family member after Fitzpatrick failed to show up for work on Monday.
