PG Police Say Would-Be Robber Dies In Struggle

HILLCREST HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) -- Prince George's County police say an apparent would-be robber has died following a struggle for his gun.

Police say officers found the man suffering from gunshot wounds about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in Hillcrest Heights. Officials say the man died at the scene in the 4400 block of 23rd Parkway.

Authorities say a preliminary investigation found the man approached two people sitting in a car and apparently was attempting to rob them. Police say the would-be robber was shot during a struggle for the gun with a man inside the vehicle.

Officials say the occupants of the vehicle are cooperating with detectives and charges have not been filed.
