BOSTON (CBS) — Sports often bring out the best in people, but every so often, individuals can use sports as a forum to bring out their ugly side.

The sign said, “Toronto Stronger,” a play on words with the “Boston Strong” motto that has been used in Boston as a rallying cry after the Boston Marathon bombings, which killed three people and injured 260 others.

Images of the fan spread rapidly across Twitter and Facebook, and by the second period, “Toronto Stronger” was the No. 1 trending topic in Boston. A Getty Images photographer captured the fan in a photo.

The message, obviously, doesn’t represent the views of anyone beyond that one person, and the reaction from the majority of Twitter users seemed to be of disgust.
