Guilty Plea For Blogger Who Broadcast Standoff
BALTIMORE (AP) -- A Baltimore blogger who broadcast his standoff with police has pleaded guilty to a weapons charge.
Frank James MacArthur, who broadcast his negotiations with police surrounding his home in December, pleaded guilty Wednesday to possession of a short barreled shot gun. He was sentenced to three years in prison with all but six months suspended.
When law-enforcement officers tried to serve a warrant for a probation violation stemming from a 2009 gun case, MacArthur remained inside his home, broadcasting his talks with a police negotiator on The Baltimore Spectator website. After several hours, MacArthur surrendered.
