1 Dead, Several Hurt In Curtis Bay Fire

CURTIS BAY, Md. (WJZ) -- One person has died and several others were taken to the hospital after a fire in Curtis Bay, according to fire officials.

The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 4000-block of Fairhaven Avenue.

Firefighters found a lot of fire and smoke in a basement apartment.

Several people jumped from the upper floors of the apartment building to escape.

Six people were taken to the hospital, including some children.

None of their injuries were said to be life-threatening.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
