Ex-FOP President Pleads Guilty To Theft
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say the former president of the Prince George's County Deputy Sheriff's Association, FOP Lodge has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $9,000 from the organization.
The State Prosecutor's Office said Friday that 46-year-old Wendy Tyler of Stevensville pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft. Tyler was sentenced to probation before judgment and ordered to pay restitution.
According to a statement of facts, Tyler, a sworn member of the Sheriff's Department, was elected president of the FOP lodge in 2005. Prosecutors say Tyler obtained and deposited to her personal bank account more stipend checks from the FOP than she was entitled to.
