Orioles Reliever: Fans 'Don't Care About Players'

BALTIMORE (CBS Baltimore/AP) -- Baltimore Orioles reliever Pedro Strop is taking his frustration out on the fans.

After giving up four runs in a 9-5 Orioles loss to the Los Angeles Angels Wednesday, Strop claims that the fans only care about the results and not the players themselves.

"I heard it when I was walking from the mound," Strop told The Baltimore Sun. "Booing somebody like that — I was giving everything I've got to help the team win and to give a good show. … They don't care about players. They care about good results."

Strop was surprised by the fans' angst toward him.

"I know they just want to see good results, but at the same time, they don't know what it takes, what hard work and dedication it takes to perform well," Strop told the Sun. "So that's why they boo, because they don't know."

After shining as Baltimore's setup man last year, Strop (0-3) has a 7.58 ERA and has surrendered nine runs in his last five innings. He has spent some time on the disabled list earlier with a lower back strain.
