Parents Of Frederick Students Complain Of Bullying

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) -- Two parents of fifth-grade students at a Frederick elementary school say their children have been bullied and the school hasn't taken the incidents seriously enough.

The mother of one child says her daughter was dragged by the hair by two other girls, while another student's mother says her son was thrown against a chalkboard and beaten up in a bathroom.

The students attend Hillcrest Elementary School.

Michael Doerrer, a spokesman for the Frederick County public school system, tells the News-Post of Frederick that the district takes bullying seriously but that he's not allowed under federal law to discuss individual disciplinary matters.

He says the school district hasn't experienced a rise in bullying incidents.
