Divers Search For Swimmer Missing In Magothy River
ARNOLD, Md. (AP) -- Maryland Natural Resources Police say the search has resumed for a man believed to have drowned after he jumped from a boat in the Magothy River in the Arnold area.
Officials say 27-year-old Nate Young jumped from a 20-foot pleasure boat near Dobbins Island on Thursday evening, but did not come back up.
Police say other occupants of the boat tried to help him, but were struggling to stay above water themselves. Young, who is originally from Michigan, recently moved to Annapolis.
Searchers looked for Young until darkness fell and resumed their search at daybreak Friday.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Keith Swindle says officials are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in the incident.
