Rep. Sarbanes Endorses Brown

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- Rep. John Sarbanes is endorsing Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown for governor.

The congressman announced the endorsement on Monday for Brown, who is seeking the Democratic nomination.

It comes a day before Attorney General Doug Gansler is scheduled to kick off a weeklong statewide tour to kick off his campaign for the Democratic nomination for governor.

Sarbanes joins three other members of Maryland's eight members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Reps. Steny Hoyer, Elijah Cummings and Donna Edwards also have endorsed Brown.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski announced her endorsement for Brown on Sunday.

Sarbanes' district includes parts of Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard and Montgomery counties, as well as parts of the city of Baltimore.
