Snowy Crash Downs Power Line, Closes Md. Highway

JOHNSVILLE, Md. (AP) -- Maryland State Police say a section of state Route 75 is closed in eastern Frederick County near Johnsville due to a power line brought down by vehicle that slid on the snow-covered road into a utility pole.

Police say they closed the approximately half-mile stretch between Keymar Road and Renner Road around 9 a.m. Monday.

Potomac Edison says it's replacing two utility poles. Spokesman David Klein says he expects repairs to be done by mid-afternoon.

Kline says the accident caused power outages in the area. The outages peaked at about 230 early Monday morning but were down to about 40 by 1:30 p.m.
