2 Former Wicomico School Employees To File Suit

SALISBURY, Md. (AP) -- Two former Wicomico County public school employees have filed a lawsuit against the Board of Education, alleging gender discrimination.

The lawsuit was filed this week by former employees Stacy Messick and Stephanie Moses. They allege they were fired because the school system held them to different standards than men in similar positions.

The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that the lawsuit seeks $3 million for each woman. The two women lost an appeal of their termination that was heard before the state Board of Education in 2013.

Board president Ronald Willey declined to comment. Board spokeswoman Tracy Sahler says the school system has not received any details on the lawsuit and would not comment on any pending litigation.
