Police File Charges Against Mentally Ill Md. Mom; 2 Toddlers Also Missing

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WJZ) -- A frantic search continues for a missing Montgomery County mother and her two young children. Police have now filed charges against that mother.

Derek Valcourt has the latest on the case and new video released by police.

That mom is diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic. Police say she was the last one to see her kids, and now she was disappeared.

"Right now, I just want my freaking kids back. That's it," said Troy Turner, missing kids' father.

Troy Turner is desperate to see his two children -- three-year-old Sarah and two-year-old Jacob. Both kids were last seen in the company of their paranoid schizophrenic mother, 27-year-old Catherine Hoggle.

On Sunday, Hoggle left her mother's Gaithersburg home and told relatives she was taking her son to pizza. She returned without him, saying he was with a friend. He wasn't.

The next day, she left her own Clarksburg home with her three-year-old daughter, Sarah, and told her husband she had taken both kids to a daycare center. When Troy later pressed for the kids' whereabouts, Catherine disappeared. Troy contacted police.

"We have grave concerns over the welfare of the children," said Captain Darren Francke, Montgomery County Police.

Montgomery County Police are pleading for the public's help and releasing video of Hoggle inside a Chick-Fil-A store in Germantown Monday afternoon. The video was taken moments before she slipped away from her husband and disappeared.

Police say early Monday morning, Catherine was also spotted on video camera without the children in the Germantown Commons area.

"I'm asking the people that frequent that area, the citizens of Montgomery County, to please take a hard look at these pictures, especially the mother, and think if you saw her or those children," said Asst. Chief Russ Hamill," Montgomery County Police.

"I don't have any comment right now. I'm letting police figure stuff out," Turner said.

Turner wouldn't answer questions. Neither would Catherine Hoggle's mother, who gave a quick message to her daughter: "Please come home."

Police say they have issued an arrest warrant for Catherine Hoggle on charges of child neglect.

Anyone who may have seen the missing mother or those two children at any time in the last few days is urged to call Montgomery County Police immediately.
