Horseshoe Casino Teams Up With Bea Gaddy To Feed The Poor

BALTIMORE (WJZ) -- In the few months since Baltimore's Horseshoe Casino opened up, it's raked in millions. Now it's time to give back.

As Gigi Barnett explains, this weekend, the casino teamed up with hundreds of Corvette owners to deliver Thanksgiving dinner in style.

The Chevy Corvette is a classic car, but load it up with Thanksgiving dinner and more than 100 Corvette owners turned vehicles into a caravan of hope.

"There's a need and they're bringing bags of groceries and goods," said Baltimore County Corvette Club President Jeff Scruggs.

All of it goes to the Bea Gaddy Center, where thousands of needy families will have a holiday dinner this year. The sports car has plenty of space to deliver it all.

"We've got lots of space in the back. If you can go golf in this car, you can definitely take a lot of groceries in this car," Scruggs said.

The Corvette Club received some help to raise the food from Baltimore's Horseshoe Casino. Before opening its doors a few months ago, the casino promised to give back to the community. Now's their chance.

"It's a way for us to give back. We've been collecting canned goods this week. We staged six Corvettes last night on the plaza and lots of our guests came in and donated food," said Horseshoe Casino spokesman Randy Goldman. "It's always time to help those in need."

In addition to food, the Corvette Club is also raising money for the non-profit pantry. Last year, it gave about $9,000 to the Bea Gaddy Family Center.

Every year, the Bea Gaddy holiday dinner campaign feeds more than 3,000 people on Thanksgiving.
