WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a woman who is five months pregnant was shot and wounded in Washington over the weekend.

Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to an apartment on 58th Street NE just after 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived officers discovered a woman in a hallway suffering from gunshot wounds.

After the woman was taken to the hospital officers and case workers brought several children out of the building.

Police arrested 25-year-old Terrell Bringier of Lanham, Maryland at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and charged him with assault with intent to kill in connection with the shooting.

No phone number is listed for Bringier.
