Matt Zenitz Previews The Terps Visit To "The Big House"

Matt Zenitz from The Baltimore Sun joins The Scott Garceau show with Jeremy Conn and Femi to discuss Maryland's match-up against Michigan. Although they are pretty much head to head with Michigan in their division, they are considered the underdog for this game. The Terps are hanging in there with big wins over Penn State and Iowa. "They've won 4 games on the road which is, I believe, tied with OSU" stated Zenitz. One of the downfalls for this game for the Terps is the fact that it is "Senior day at Michigan, and that will bring some energy to the stadium." Michigan's record right now is 5-5 and with a win Michigan becomes bowl eligible and Zenitz says, "I don't think they will beat Ohio State University.  I think this is a very important game for them."

Femi asked Zenitz his opinion about the Terps overall performance this year and he says, "C, C+ maybe a B-.  This has been the most talented team they've had."  He believes overall they beat the teams they should have beat and lost to the teams they should have. Prospects coming in for next year for the Terps will be very important. "It will be interesting what happens with the quarterback situation.  They are looking for an upper tier type starter coming in.  There will be some talent next year." CJ Brown is a 6th year senior and feeling is he hasn't been that big of an asset to Maryland. "During the Iowa game CJ got back to being a runner, but for whatever reason he has reverted back and hasn't taken advantage of opportunities." He has been very inefficient in the pocket.

If Maryland wins this game they could be 5-3 in the conference, 8-4 overall and be guaranteed a bowl game.  "They have 2 winnable games in the next two weeks." They will be missing superstar wide receiver Stefon Diggs, who will not be traveling to play Michigan this weekend due to his ongoing lacerated kidney issue.
