What inspired you to enter finance and then to start Harvin Consulting?

"I was originally inspired to enter my current field because I was good with numbers and interested in business. The accounting field allowed me to explore both areas."

"I started my current enterprise, Harvin Consulting, to help struggling businesses. I've seen countless organizations fail or go bankrupt simply because there wasn't a strong enough accountant on board. With my current enterprise, I'm able to help organizations strengthen their financial house, on an as needed or part-time basis."

How does your educational background relate to your current role?

"A degree in accounting is the typical educational background for my current role. So, it relates directly."

How has your education helped to further your career and contribute to your success

"My degree in accounting was required to take the Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. Having my CPA enhanced my credentials and furthered my career."

What is some advice you can offer others looking to go into either accounting or financial consulting?

"My advice to others looking to enter the accounting field is to become a CPA as soon as possible. That professional credential is the gold standard for the accounting profession."
