New Indictment: Federal Contractors Stole $1.5M From Workers
BALTIMORE (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say the operators of two small government contracting companies stole more than $1.5 million from employee benefit plans.
The U.S. attorney's office said Thursday that a grand jury returned a superseding indictment against Shaun and Joanne Tucker of Keymar. It adds wire-fraud conspiracy to the embezzlement and tax-evasion charges announced in September.
The Tuckers couldn't be reached for comment. They have no home telephone listing. Their lawyers didn't immediately respond to telephone calls and emails from The Associated Press.
Prosecutors say the Tuckers used money stolen from employees of Quantell Inc. and Intaset Technologies Corp. to buy luxury vehicles, make improvements to their Carroll County home and build a home near Deep Creek Lake.
The companies did work for federal and state agencies and the private sector.
