Active Tuberculosis Case Reported At Md. High School
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) -- An unidentified person has been diagnosed with an active case of tuberculosis at Rockville High School.
The school says there is no risk of additional exposure to staff or students and the chance anyone else was infected is small.
The Montgomery County health department is recommending students and staff who had class or an after school activity with the individual between February and May get tested for the disease. The school says parents of children who are indicated for testing will receive a letter in the mail next week. It is unclear if the infected person is a student or staff member.
Free testing will be offered at Rockville High School.
Tuberculosis is an airborne bacterial disease that attacks the lungs as well as other parts of the body.
